However, many baristas claim that for shaken espressos, they’re only supposed to use ½ pumps… Which would mean 1 ounce of syrup total. The Starbucks website calls for 4 pumps in a grande and since a pump of syrup is about ½ ounce, that would be 2 ounces of syrup. The biggest confusion is in terms of how much syrup to use. In fact, I found entire Reddit threads from Starbucks baristas confused about how they should be making the drink. I did a lot of research to determine the ratio of ingredients for a shaken espresso and came across lots of conflicting information.
